The number Eight and Made in the USA

What broke my day(yesterday): Other than intending to write and then completely forgetting, I hate the number 8. With a passion. A fiery burning passion of disgust. Yes, I am pulling this one out of my 'I can't think of anything that isn't redundant' hat. But in this list of options are things that I really don't like, but it seems useless to write about on any day, so I'll save them for the days where my life is mediocre( which happens more often than not, oddly). Anyways, I'm not kidding about this whole number 8 thing. I really do hate the number 8. Most people have a favorite number, I have a favorite number I'd like to avoid. I know it's psychotic to hate a number; I mean what ever in the whole world could a number do to me? A lot. My intense hatred of that satanic number started in the first grade when we were learning to spell it. Whoever came up with the spelling of that number sucks because it plagued me for a long time. It's honestly the worst number ever to spell when your learning. It's supposed to be EFGHI....not EIGH... that's just confusing. Note: I'm a good speller too, so that's saying something. Plus in math 8 sucks. Multiplying and dividing it makes me want to have a brain aneurysm. To this day I still struggle doing math that involves 8 in my head to the point where if I see that as a math problem, I just ignore the entire problem. My friend Sarah says that it's easy to add....I think she should be institutionalized. Apparently there was a trick all along that I was never informed of....something about pretending it's 10 and then subtracting 2...whatever. I still think it's a really stupid number. It would make my life a whole heck of a lot easier if we just got rid of the number all together...can we please work on that?

What made my day: When something is made in the USA. Why? Because it's so rare to find something that it's like a real life treasure hunt, and that makes me a pirate.  I mean, why should I support China's economy? but I have to because nothing is made in the USA. Looking in my closet the tags go like this: Mexico, Vietnam, Indonesia, China, China, Sri Lanka,China, South Africa, Vietnam. Not even American flags are made in America...they are made in China. So, when you come across something that is actually made in our lovely country it's kind of a big deal.  It shouldn't be, but it is. Every time you buy something from the U.S. you are helping our economy, supporting our jobs, and showing our pride. That's important to me.  60 years ago tons of things were made in the USA, it was a point of pride. Schwinn bikes were the coolest because they were made in Chicago. Now, no one seems to care that a shirt that says USA was made in....Africa. I like finding something that I know people from my country helped made, and I supported my economy. That's why I love finding things like that because it makes me feel all patriotic, like Paul Revere....except I didn't risk getting hanged to buy a shirt. But other than that it's the same thing right? Okay, let's get to the real reason. I heard a story (one of those 'friend's friend's knew someone who' stories.) about this person  who was Chinese getting a tattoo on their lower back that said "Made In China." That's freaking awesome. Now I want one that says "Made in the USA." Unfortunately it wouldn't be as cool because it's not as much of a pop cultural reference.  So whenever I buy something made here in these beautiful 50 states it gets me that much closer to getting a "MADE IN THE USA" tattoo on my butt....it would be a conversation starter.
